GUILD CHARTER
Spoils of War is a World of Warcraft guild, on the silver hand server in the pacific time zone.
By definition, Spoils of War is a guild of cool people.
The most important aspect of spoils of war: No ass holes are permitted. It is EXPECTED that every member contribute to the guild in every way possible. Our main goal is to enjoy the game in a friendly helpful atmosphere. We have a high focus on being honorable, and respecting each other, and those around us. Officers and leaders are expected to resolve any issues based on what is right, not what side they are on, including inter guild issues.
*Things that might make you a good fit for Spoils of War*
- You enjoy Giving things to guild mates, including your time when needed.
- You ego is not more dominant than your ability to reason.
- Friendship is more important than loot.
So you want to join spoils of war?
Read this whole charter. DO NOT SKIM.
Ranking System in Spoils of War
Its important to know that rank plays no part in loot. The importance of the different ranks is explained below.
- The Iron Fist
- Leader of the guild. The guild leaders say is final. Spoils of war is not a democracy, and what the leader says goes. If your not comfortable without a republic / democracy, this probably isn't the guild for you. We have a set leader, because we all would rather just play the game than spend our time debating HOW to play the game. Kricket fills this role. If you don't like her, your probably not going to like being in Spoils of War.
- Minister of War
- Co leader of the guild. Zirthon fills this role, though his play time does not allow him to take up the mantle to its full potential. He keeps Kricket in check... because he knwos where kricket lives and is bigger than him.
- Arbiter
- Effectively these are officers. Arbiters are exptected to handle situations when Kricket is not there, and do so in the same manner as the guild leader would.
- The following is a list of our Arbiters:
- Spoli
- Nemausus
- Sunder
- Aresius
- Knight
- Knights are regular members, who have high to very high play time, and are exemplary examples of what it means to be a member of spoils of war. This is a temporary position, and the current knights will fluctuate alot.
- Grand Historian
- Somewhere between knight and arbiter, the grand historian meets the requirements of both, but without the authority of an arbiter, just the responsibility. Mostly responsible for keeping track of details as the guild progresses, and documenting them.
- Squire
- A full member of Spoils of war
- Peasant
- An applicant to the guild Spoils of War
- Gimp
- An alt / twink of a member or applicant of spoils of war. Each member is only allowed one non-gimp member.
Rules and regulations:
- No assholes
- Treat others with respect. Guildies and non guildies.
- Avoid heated public debates / arguments.
- Members are required to assist in guild raids if necicary. The person leading the raid can make an excepton. Exceptions are also made for people pushing for pvp rank that can't afford to take the time off to raid.
- Spoils of War is not a democracy. Thats not changing. (we are as my mentor said, a Benevolent Dictatorship)
- Any active member can veto an applicant. Knights must have spent time with and approve of each new member.
- Whining is not acceptable. If you have an issue, you also need to have a solution.
- All members are expected to help each other in any way feasable. This is a cooperative guild.
Spoils of war Loot system:
The loot system in Spoils is based loosely on the following factors, in roughly this order. Though the first 3 are almost equally important. The leadership is the one who assigns loot, there is no council however. officers can call loot, but they answer to kricket if they make a bad call. Bad calls are rare, but happen. When they do we do our best to rectify it. (if your the victem of a bad call, it usually works to your benifit in the end). If you have complaints with a call, take it up with Kricket. (keep in mind she may get tired of answering questiosn about *every* loot call)
- Number of Raids since your last loot
- Number of Raids in the last 45 days, vs the number of loots in the last 45 days
- Quality of said loots, and the loot in question.
- Extra services provided to the guild. A member who has gone out of his way to make sure every single member of the guild got his onyxia key, or perhaps he gathered the components to make all of our wariors Dark iron helmets, etc. might get a bit of special attention in responce for the particular service in reguards to loot. It doesn't always happen, but it does on occasion.
- If it is close, how well a particular class could use an item may be a deciding factor.
- Kricket reserves the right to overrule the standard loot system for the benifit of the guild. If a weapon droped one day that proc'd taunt.... It would be given to our main tank reguardless of the above issues.
- Members have limeted access to view other members raid information. There are alot of reasons for this, but mostly it helps keep the drama down if there is a close call that doesn't go your way.
- Alts/ twinks NEVER recieve loot over a main who would use it.
OK, But how do I join?
- Read the Charter
- Post an applciation on the forum.
- Sign up for a forum account USING YOUR EXACT CHARACTER NAME . This is more important than you might think.
- Find two sponsors in the guild. One of which must be the same class as you. One of which also must be a knight or higher. These sponsors MUST post a reply on your app indicating they are sponsoring you before your application can continue.
- Talk to Kricket in game for an interview.
- Once your interview is complete, if all is well you will be invited at the rank of peasant (see ranks above)
OK, How do I get promoted above peasant?
- Spend some time with guild members.
- Spend time particularly with all the knights. You need the formal approval of each one to be accepted as a full member.
- If all goes well, you will be promted at the first Guild meeting after you have had sufficient time with the guild (3 weeks to a month seems to be about the minimum, though it can take longer for various reasons).
Why so long?
- We take choosing our guild members very seriously. We do not want people who don't get along in the guild. We want people that are intersted in being part of a team, working to better the team, not just themselves. It takes time to get to know someone well enough to tell weather they are faking it or not.
